The National Union of Iron and Steel Workers on Wednesday said 3,000 of its members lost their jobs in the last quarter of 2015 following closure of steel companies.
Mr Kasimu Kadiri, General Secretary of the union told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the current economic recession had increased the number of unemployed people.

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu on Wednesday, appealed to South-East residents and supporters not to resort to violence no matter the outcome of tomorrow’s (Thursday) ruling on bail application by his lawyers.
According to statement issued by IPOB media director, Comrade Emma Powerful, said the appeal became important considering that the outcome might be against Kanu. He called on Ndigbo not to embark on any form of protest.
People's Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate, Eyitayo Jegede SAN has accepted the outcome of the November 26 governorship election. He has therefore congratulated the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Rotimi Akeredolu who emerged winner.
It would be recalled that there were earlier indications that Mr. Jegede could be challenging the results in court following an alleged lack of level playing ground set by the Federal Government and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Hundreds of Igbo youths have taken to the streets, protesting the ongoing probe of former Nigeria First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.
The youths see the probe, which had culminated into the freezing of her (Mrs. Jonathan) account, as a calculated plot to humiliate ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
The protesters were currently heading to the Enugu office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, as at press time.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has refused to comment on the corrupt allegations against his wife.
The decision, which will see 1.2 million barrels cut per day from January 1, 2017, is aimed at shoring up the price of crude, and ending a record glut that has badly affected economies around the world, including Nigeria’s.

The Naira on Wednesday appreciated marginally against the dollar at the interbank market, gaining 25k to exchange at N305. The Nigerian currency closed at N305.25 on Tuesday.
Trading on the floor of the Bureau De Change saw the Naira sold at N399 to a dollar, CBN controlled price, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro closed at N585 and N506 respectively.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has on Wednesday, 30th of November, announced the immediate suspension of the new minimum pricing template for data services by mobile operators, as the NCC said the decision is to allow for further consultation.
The new tariff was to take off on December 1, but there has been a public outcry against it.

The Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu has denied knowledge of an increase in data tariff by the Nigerian Communications Commission. The NCC raised the data floor price for telcos on Tuesday effective December 1, forcing mobile telecommunications operators to drive up the price of data.
Speaking on the Fact File on Raypower FM on Wednesday, November 30, Shittu said he was not involved in the decision as the news came to him as a surprise.

Ifedolapo allegedly died after falling sick
A young and beautiful National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member identified as Ifedolapo has died at the orientation camp in Kano.
The information was revealed by a Facebook user, Emeka Stefano Ekwe who said that the lady had been sick but was refused treatment simply because camp officials thought she had been pretending. Sadly, her condition got worse and she passed away before help could come.

A shocking revelation made on Twitter which is currently making rounds on social media, revealed how a bride who failed to show up at her wedding last Saturday in the Ikeja area of Lagos, was discovered in a hotel room with her ex-lover.
According to the report, the bride's sudden disappearance which led to the cancellation of the ceremony, left both families and the groom totally devastated and heartbroken.
The Twitter user identified as Fofo, who narrated the incident, said that the runaway bride was later found in a hotel room with her ex-boyfriend, same hotel the whole family lodged in.

The car stuck in the sinkhole
A massive sinkhole has swallowed up a car on the street leaving the owner in complete shock. A video showing the tragic moment has emerged.
The video, filmed by a witness, shows the dark-coloured car hanging on to the sinkhole's edge by its front wheels. The vehicle – which is already at least three quarters submerged – then appears to shake and sink further, leaving it hanging onto the road's edge by just one wheel. It is then pulled into sinkhole, before emergency services could save it.
Rescue workers attempted to drain the six metre sinkhole – but they were unable to find the car. It is believe it may have been carried away by the underground river that created the sinkhole.
According to Daily Star UK, it is understood the area – located in the Russian city of Ufa – has been plagued with sinkholes.
Car owner Larisa Krasheninnovkova said: “Two months ago, cracks appeared in our home, the ground beneath us is shifting, and now — especially after this incident [with the car] — we don’t know what to expect." It is believed council officials have offered Larisa a replacement car.

The decision was taken based on a motion moved by Senator Solomon Adeola (Lagos West), entitled, “Urgent Need to Investigate Revenue Generating Agencies over Alleged Leakages, Non-Remittance and Misuse of Generated Revenue.”

Former Governor of Ekiti State and Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has given a seven-day ultimatum to a member of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr Samuel Omotoso, and Special Assistant on New Media and Public Communications to Governor Ayodele Fayose, Mr Lere Olayinka, to retract libellous statements against him in a live television programme aired on the state television on July 6, 2016.
In a letter on behalf of the minister from the Law Chambers of R.O. Balogun & Co, dated November 19th, Dr Fayemi is asking both Omotosho and Olayinka to make a retraction and public apology, which must be given equal prominence like the offending statements and utterances.

It has been revealed that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, retired and deceased civil servants were paid monthly salaries by the state government under the immediate past governor, Jonah Jang. The revelation was made by a judicial commission of inquiry.
According to Premium Times, the commission stated this on Monday when the statistician-general and salary administrator, Dagyat Pam, appeared before the commission in Jos, the state capital. Mr. Pam was also the commissioner for the state planning commission under Mr. Jang.
